Nigeria, B- Namibia, C- Zambia, D- Madagascar
Nigeria were shaken by a
huge number of pullouts of stars before their match against Madagascar
but qualified anyway in a match reported as dull. An exciting three way
race for the second spot is about to take place at the last day between
three teams which rather seem to search the less weakest.

Liberia, B- Mauritius, C- Congo, D- S. Africa
Liberia secured their qualification
for the Nations Cup, the first big success for player coach George Weah
with whom Liberia seem to have made a leap among the elite of African Football.
Unlike other outsiders who only have convinced in one competition, Liberia
have impressed in both. This indicates it is no accident that Liberia is
also in a good position to qualify for the World Cup..

Morocco have qualified for
the Nations Cup but Tunisia still need to beat ambitious Keny in their
last match at Tunis. In theory even Gabon are left with a chance. But they
will need a success at Morocco.

A-
Uganda, B- Guinea, C- Senegal, D- Togo
Guinea has been disqualified
from the competition after being banned from all international competitions
by FIFA after a government interference into the Football Association affairs
which is not allowed after FIFA rules.
A relief for Senegal and
a blow for Uganda who had been in a hopeful position to revive East African
football. Now suddenly struggeling Senegal were able to clinch qualification
by a simple victory in the direct encounter on March 24/25 which they did.
Uganda had been left with
a theoretical chance. They have to beat Togo first, then hope for a Togo
loss at home to Senegal and in aggregate have to make up for a goal deficit
of at least 9 goals.
This unlikely scenario went
up in smoke when Togo clearly went away with all three points.

What promised to be one
of the hottest groups, has been decided a weekend earlier and in favour
of the established. Though the ambitious Libyans have made very important
three points when beating Egypt at home, they fell behind when losing to
